Jacob starting taking his guitar playing seriously around Feb/March of this year. He started with a new instructor and we picked up two newer guitars for him (he had outgrown his old one). Our new church here in GA has a dynamic youth group with a student led praise band. The kids in that band have been playing together for years and will ALL graduate this month. That left the praise band with some opportunities.
Named the SAM band (Student Arts Ministry), they guys started playing together earlier this year and Jacob joined them in April. The only adult is the director and keyboard/piano player, Craig.
Last Sunday night, the SAM band played during the main worship services and did a outstanding job. Jacob is soaking it all up and prints off music from the Internet to work on.

Left to Right: Caleb, electric. Jacob, electric/acoustic. Trent bass.

Along with the drummer, Luke, these guys are all in the same grade and will probably play together for the duration of their time in the youth group (ie: next 5 years).

I am so excited for Jacob to have found his niche. He was worried last fall about not being "good" at anything. Now a couple of months later and he is using his talents to play in a band!
