Take a Hike

Mark and Jacob had their first true backpacking trip last month. They, along with 16 other scouts, hiked part of the Appalachian Trail in the Georgia mountains. Three days and two nights of wilderness, isolation and no communication.

Jacob and some of the scouts looking at the ice in the creek.

Jacob day two, repacked and headed further into the wilderness.

The long and winding road, up into the mountains.

First night, setting up camp. Only about 21 degrees that first night.

The views from the trail.

Mark with all his gear. If you wanted or needed it, you had to carry it.

Jacob on arrival at the trailhead, day one. Starting temps in the 20's.

Night before the hike, making last minute adjustments.

They had a blast, came home dirty and smelly, but can't wait to do it again.
