Braces

Joseph had his first appointment with the orthodontist yesterday. He has been worried sick over the whole braces thing, to the point that he didn't want to go unless Daddy was there. Has he forgotten who held his nose in place while it was basically sewn back on, who gave birth to him, or who remains calm? No, he wants Daddy. Mark was more than happy to oblige, and drove non-stop Monday pulling in around midnight. Off we all go to the doctor. Joseph was up early showered and brushed his teeth while we were still in the pj's with coffee. Then he started to pace. Finally, we head over to the doctor's office. Upon arriving, Joseph sees the coffee pot and makes Mark another cup. Can you tell he's nervous? We meet the staff, check out the office (which was really cool), and have x-rays taken. The orthodontist was great. He has a wonderful bedside manner and soft voice. He answered all our questions and proposed that we wait another six months for more baby teeth to fall out. Mark was impressed, I was impressed and Joseph was sold. He felt completely at ease and has photos of his teeth to show all his friends. Whew! Now my only hope is that in 6 months, we won't go thru all this again. :)
