No, You Didn't

My morning started with a 5am phone call from the hospital.  I was delayed until 9am.  At 9am, I was to call and see if I needed to come in.  This practice really irritates me.  If you don't need me- then let me be free!!!
Plus, if I am needed (at 9) it's straight time.

After all these thoughts, I roll over and go back to sleep.

8:30 am- Mark and I are chatting, Jonny is awake.  Phone rings.  "We need you.  How long before you can be here?"  Irritation sets in.  I was looking forward to a day off.  An hour, I tell them.  Shower, hit McD's for tea and clock in 9:35.

Hospital was busy, but not crazy.  That was until.....

11:20- Patient is at desk screaming in pain.  Loudly.  Other nurses suddenly look busy.  Like suddenly everyone has something to do.  Patient is taken to a room.  I hear her yelling "I'm not sure I'm even pregnant"
Really?  Really!!!  No one wants to venture to the door.  Being the good samaritian I am, I enter.
I send the scrub tech for the ultrasound machine.  I try to find the baby's heartbeat.  Now she screams "there is something down there."

Maybe this is a bit graphic- but The Real Housewives are always showing the various plastic surgeries....so hold on!!

I pull back the sheet....

and

yep- there is something there!  The top of a baby's head!!!!

You read that correctly.

I open the door- yell for the doctor (who is sitting at the nurses station) and the NICU team.  Return to the bedside and we have ourselves a baby!  At 11:23!!!

Guess what- she WAS pregnant!

Isn't that special....(cue the church lady- Dana Carvey)

NO- THAT IS NOT SPECIAL!!!!!

Because this patient now decides the hemorrhage!  For the next 6 hours, the "good samaritian" is up to her elbows- literally!

By 7pm I am changed into normal clothing and running for the door!

Just a glimpse in the day......
Enjoy!
