At this point the boys didn't think it was all that big. It was big, but not like Mark and I had described. All that changed once they were inside. 250 rooms will do that to a person.
This is the church is historical Biltmore Village. Mr. Vanderbilt has this church built. It was designed by the same man as Biltmore House. (Who also designed the base of the Statue of Liberty, fyi) This story is...at the end of every year the minister was invited to Biltmore House for dinner. The minister would bring his accounting books listing all the expenses for the year. He would "leave" that book in his carriage, and after dinner he would return to his carriage and find his accounting book along with the exact amount of money spent for the years expenses.
If only it was that easy these days.
One of the many great fires that the boys built. We brought a ton of wood with us and had s'mores almost every night.
Our little vacation spot. We basically had the whole campground to ourselves. Out of the 95 available sites, about 10 were being used. There is Murray standing guard. Holly spent most of the time inside as she gets cold easily, and JJ was happy to be in his tank on the table. One thing that was funny...making sure we kept the camper warm enough for the fish!
Who can resist this guy? He and I took a long walk one evening (while the big guys cooked dinner) and found all kinds of rocks for climbing, sitting and posing! Note the crocs on the feet...one day it was rainy and cold, not above 50. Jonny had a woodshed moment with Mark. He did NOT want to wear tennis shoes, his crocs were just fine. I don't know what it is about crocs, but that is all he ever wears. Back to that cold day, after we were in the car and headed back to the camper, he pulled off those tennis shoes and put on the crocs, with socks this time, as his feet were a "little cold"!!
